How to Adopt
Thank you for considering adopting one of our lovely Caribbean Animals. We have many dogs / cats in the shelter deserving of a home. In the BVI many people rent, which means they are unable to adopt and we therefore have more animals than adopters. Because of the lack of adopters some of our dogs have been with us for over a year. We believe all our BVI furry friends deserve a chance and all of the posted animal on our website are loving, caring and suitable for adoption. If you are living outside of the BVI and wish to adopt we can certainly look into this for you and some of our Caribbean animals now have their furever home in another country.
If you are looking for an animal to adopt, feel free to look at our adoption pages! Once you have read the description of the animal, you should contact the animal shelter and go take a look at the animal and see if it is the right one for you! After you chose your pet, Vijay or Kemo will request your contact information and will give you a short interview of how the dog or cat will be housed and taken care of, followed by an adoption contract for you to sign.
There is an adoption fee of $65 for cats, $95 for dogs and $85 for puppies, which will cover the vet costs for vaccinations, de-worming and spaying/neutering, etc. Most of our dogs and cats are chipped with a free Nanochip, that will ensure a safe return when your pet is lost and found and an immediate link with your contact details and the medical records of the animal. After you have paid the fee and signed the adoption contract, you will be able to take your pet home and give that lucky animal a lot of love! We will provide you with the first tick and flee treatment and the information needed for the vet for following up check-ups and vaccinations.
Every adopted animal will leave the shelter spayed or neutered to avoid more puppies or kittens being born on this island. If you adopt a puppy or kitten that is still too young to neuter or spay, then we will require you to promise to arrange this when the animal is old enough. PAW BVI offers free spaying and neutering for pet owners that cannot afford the vet bill.
